West Meets South

Some notes from the latest letter...

Elder Bednar is coming...What should I wear, a skirt... or.. a skirt? My comp was really sad on Sunday because we called all Saturday night for people to go to church and looked for them all Sunday morning and had nobody at church. Then like five minutes before sacrament we went to go find another girl that´s not even an investigator just a contact and she came. But it´s a little discouraging. Hermana Lewis and Hermana Hulen from the MTC always call me to chat. It happens to them, too.

My new comp is amazing. I have fear though, because she thinks she´s getting transferred to a new area in two weeks which means I´ll be staying here with a new comp. I´m so lazy. I hate responsibility, but it´s necessary for growth. My only problem is remembering all the names of our ward members and investigators, even though they all have the same names. I swear everybody and their dog is named Jose.

Anyway, I love you all. I can´t remember everything I wanted to tell you, but don´t worry about me. I´ll be just fine here in Argentina. Just pray for my safety.

Elder Bednar came to Argentina for a mission conference on November 19, 2009 and all the missions in the Buenos Aires area were able to attend and renew acquaintances... Like Elder Rice's blog says, "South Meets West"!

FIRST LETTER AND FIRST P-DAY!! Well, kinda...

We waited and waited for an email on Monday, October 19, but nothing came. Then on Tuesday we finally heard from her.......Here some excerpts:
"My trainer is a native from Argentina. She has 13 months in the mission and speaks hardly any English. My area is called Aldo Bonzi. We're the first sisters here in 50 years and our pench (apartment) is well...humbling."

"Today we got to go to the temple because it's closing and normally my p-day is Monday, but we had it today because of the temple. My comp was a little confused because everybody else had a regular p-day on Monday AND the temple today so we didn't really get a p-day this week and we have an appointment at five so I guess next Monday will be my first p-day."

"My comp works really hard. She runs from house to house and is super diligent. She's funny so that helps. I love funny people."

"I LOST MY CAMERA. I put that in caps because I'm sorry. I think it got stolen in the airport when I was on the phone or sleeping. I had SO many on there from the last week of the MTC that I hadn't printed off."

"We don't really eat, so I'm pretty sure I have no worries of getting fat. I'm pretty sure I'm actually losing weight, so that'll be nice."

"We have two baptisms this Saturday which is cool. Two guys. One is 22 and the other is 23."

SHE MADE IT ON OCTOBER 13, 2009

Hermana Daniels left the MTC very early on October 12. She called from SLC and from LA. She was scheduled to change planes in Lima, Peru and land in Buenos Aires on Tuesday morning. These photos were taken from Sister Benton's blog.

First Companion--MTC style

Argentina is very far away!!

Jill's MTC companion is Sister Hulen.

Set Apart and Off She Goes

We all have priorities, right?? Gotta get the hair done-- then set apart by President Richard Tranter on the morning of August 12. We jumped on the tramp and took a family photo before leaving house and then dropped her off "at the curb" and she was gone!
